Regular practice happens once a week. There are three components to regular practice and each practice night may focus on one or a combination of these components. They are:
- Gear check and maintenance
- Practice to prepare for testing or be tested on specific skills needed to advance to a higher level of firefighter certification (firefighter basic – firefighter advanced – firefighter one). These specific skills are called Job Performance Requirement (JPR).
- Training or presentations outside of JPR skills.
- The practice of general response skills or practice of response scenarios
